Wardrobe Staple: P4P Boundless Dress

Me Made May is now fully upon us and I am loving the intentional reminder to use, appreciate, and love all of the handmade goodness that hangs in my closet! I spent a couple of hours changing out all of my winter things (heavy sweaters, turtle necks, and tall boots) for my summer things (sundresses, tank tops, and sandals) yesterday and was smacked in the face with the realization that I have been playing pattern favorites and making many variations of the same pattern over and over again, especially the newly updated Patterns for Pirates Boundless Dress!

Within the last week I made two different boundless dresses (with another one currently on the cutting table) all different and all equally favored! The first is a mini dress made out of hoarded Sew So English DBP from last summer (I used these same fabrics for a M4M Mama Nina last summer, check it out here!). I love the combo of stripes and florals for summer and the teeny tiny skirt was the perfect excuse to shave my legs for the first time in what was probably far too long.

I made this version with an unlined bodice because I didn’t want anything showing through the white of the stripes in the bodice and whoa buddy was that an adventure! Thank goodness for Heat and Bond’s Soft Stretch hem tape because without it I probably would have driven myself nuts trying to get that neckline flat!

Seriously if you haven’t tried this stuff yet you need to immediately! It makes hemming a breeze and I am honestly not sure how I lived before it! Therm O Web 3536 Heat and Bond LITE Soft Stretch Fabric Adhesive, 5/8″ x 10 yd

For my second boundless I went for full on drama with a floral DBP Maxi tank dress and it is by far one of my favorite things I have made in a very, very long time! The fabric is a navy based floral form Bow Button Fabrics on Etsy and I love how “boutique” it looks sewn up.

I did the lined bodice option for this maxi dress and I love how quick and easy it is and, as a bonus, doing a lined bodice means no bands or binding! Hallelujah!

Gahhh it is just so pretty! This one I am able to wear for both work and play and it also pairs really well with all of my layering pieces from my spring mini capsule which has meant it has been exceptionally easy to style.

The new, updated pattern will be on sale through the weekend so be sure to grab your copy asap! If you already owned the boundless dress the new file should already be in your download section on the P4P website!
